About Us

Our Mission

The Nashville Dispatch is the daily pulse of Music City — fast, fearless, and rooted in the community we serve. We believe local news should move as quickly as Nashville itself: from the honky-tonks of Lower Broadway to the boardrooms of the Gulch, from the neighborhoods of North Nashville to the greenways of East Nashville.
Our job is simple: tell you what matters, hold power accountable, and make sure every voice in this city has a microphone. We are digital-first, community-backed, and unapologetically local.

Meet the Team

Lyn Maiga — General Manager

Lyn Maiga leads The Nashville Dispatch with nearly two decades of experience in media operations across the Southeast. Most recently, she served as VP of Operations for a regional media group in Atlanta, where she grew digital revenue by 40% across six stations. Lyn holds an MBA from Emory University and sits on the board of the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters. She lives in East Nashville and is committed to expanding access to local news in every corner of the city.

Richard Mtimba — Station Manager

Richard Mtimba keeps our newsroom running smoothly, drawing on ten years of management experience in Charlotte and Birmingham. A Howard University graduate, he began his career as a producer before moving into operations, where he specializes in building efficient workflows and cross-platform content strategies. Richard mentors young journalists through the National Association of Black Journalists and can often be found running Nashville’s greenways on weekend mornings.

Sandy Jose — News Director

Sandy Jose sets the editorial vision for The Nashville Dispatch, bringing 22 years of journalism experience and a fierce commitment to accountability reporting. She previously led investigations at the Miami Herald, where her team was a Pulitzer finalist for coverage of public housing corruption. Sandy holds a master’s degree from Columbia Journalism School and has taught investigative reporting at the university level. She believes a newsroom should look like the community it covers.

Michelle Richard — Assistant News Director

Michelle Richard manages our day-to-day editorial operations and breaking news coverage. With 14 years in local news — including stops in Louisville, Memphis, and Austin, where she helped launch a digital news startup — she knows how to stay calm under pressure and spot the stories that matter most. Michelle is a graduate of the University of Missouri and serves on the advisory board for the Tennessee High School Press Association.

Jackie Alex — Digital Director

Jackie Alex leads our digital strategy, audience growth, and the technology that gets our reporting in front of Nashvillians wherever they are. Previously Head of Audience at a national digital publisher, she has a track record of growing online readership by over 300%. Jackie holds a Computer Science degree from Vanderbilt and speaks regularly at digital media conferences. She is obsessed with one thing: making sure local news finds the people who need it.

Mark Deus — Programming Director

Mark Deus shapes what you see, hear, and read across our platforms. A Nashville native with 20 years of programming experience, he previously restructured primetime lineups for a major affiliate group, boosting ratings by 25%. Mark holds a degree in Media Studies from NYU and brings a deep understanding of Music City’s culture and evolving audience to everything we program.

Kyle Amon — General Sales Manager

Kyle Amon builds the partnerships that keep The Nashville Dispatch strong. As General Sales Manager, he works with local businesses, agencies, and community organizations to create meaningful advertising and sponsorship opportunities. Previously a Regional Sales Director, Kyle consistently exceeded revenue targets while prioritizing relationships over transactions. He holds a degree from Middle Tennessee State University and is a member of the Nashville Advertising Federation. He believes great journalism is powered by great local partners.
