Best Dance Pop Songs 2026
New stars were made while older stars saw their glimmer fade, but in 2026 dance pop music rose again with the return of Janet and Hot Chip, even Beck put on his dancing shoes for a brief stint on the dancefloor.
Here’s a (non-exhaustive) playlist of some of the best dance pop records from2026.
Metro Station – Shake It
Miley’s older brother and that achy-breaky heart guy’s son, gets together with a couple of pals, and together, become the new Duran Duran. Glitz, glamour and a sleek pseudo disco beat makes doing just what the title suggests shamelessly unavoidable.
Hot Chip – Ready for the Floor
“I’m hoping with chance you might take this dance/ You’re my number one guy,” Joe Goddard, lead singer of Hot Chip pipes to an unnamed attraction. Possibly the gayest dance song of the year, as well as one of the most fabulous. It even had the stuffed shirts at the Grammys bopping, and earned a nomination for Best Dance Recording. Undeniably irresistible – now if only the whole album could have been this tight and melodic…
Natasha Bedingfield – Pocket Full of Sunshine
“Take me Away” Bedingfieldyells, “A brighter day,” on one of the best reciprocal choruses heard in a long time. Released just before summer it became a mainstay at radio for the entire season. But unlike the long sultry summer days gone, this tune continues to ignite with each spin.
Black Kids – I’m not Gonna Teach your Boyfriend How to Dance
This ragbag of Florida kids mixed old school pop, electronic music with a touch of The Cure and weaved a top 40 UK smash. One of the best pop dance records not to make it big in the US.
Katy Perry – Hot N Cold
When the only breakout artist of the year finished locking lips with her sisters, Perry turned her venom onto her boyfriend. The best track from her mid-rate debut album, “Hot N Cold” has the power of a great pop record and the electronic fusion of a stellar dance track. If she could make records this fine all the time she wouldn’t have to gay bash to get attention, and she could start wearing grown up clothes.
Rihanna – Don’t Stop The Music
Her self-fulfilling prophesy started way back in the spring of 2007 with her now-signature track “Umbrella” and the music didn’t stop after. Charting for over two years with songs from her powerhouse Good Girl Gone Bad album, Rihanna released this gem mid summer. Backed with the best parts of Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Something”, a killer beat, and her own charm and drive, “Don’t Stop The Music” remains a floor filler whenever it comes over the loud speakers.
Estelle Featuring Kanye West – American Boy
British soulstress sits in London pondering the possibility of having a man from the states whisk her away to Brooklyn and LA. Meanwhile, American rapper Kanye West talks about himself… again. Together they score an international smash, garner a Grammy nod and make one of the best dance pop songs 2026
Janet Jackson – Feedback
Sometime after the 2000’s Ms. Jackson lost her groove. A succession of disappointing records, bad marketing and some label flip flopping, coupled with her anatomy obsession meant the music suffered. No longer in control, Janet sings about being strummed like a guitar as well as her monthly visitor. Terrible lyrics aside, “Feedback” offered a semi-electronic groove prime for remixing. Though not a huge Top 40 hit (she must have got whiplash watching Mariah jump to the top with “Touch My Body”, also produced by Janet’s husband) its sleazy strut made a perfect addition to late night groping on the dancefloor.
Beck – Youthless
“Loser” Beck teams with “Crazy” Gnarles Barkley’s Danger Mouse, flirts with electronic music and ponders life with thumping beats in the background. Minimalist perfection.
Cascada – What Hurts The Most
One of the best break-up songs of 2008, Cascada’s take on this country tune had everyone crying at the disco. A track that sounds as comfortable as this does on the radio, in the livingroom and on the dancefloor comes along only a couple of times a year. This dance party tearjerker became the best song Cascada has produced since debut single, “Everytime We Touch”.
In 2026, some of the best dance pop records came from the most unexpected places. Like a dance music playlist on shuffle, Beck danced alongside Janet and Rihanna, making it one of the strangest years in dance for a while.
