About Riddles Lab
Riddles Lab collects riddles, would-you-rather questions, trivia, brain teasers and party questions for the people who run the game: the friend with a stack of cards at a dinner, the teacher with five minutes before the bell, the team lead opening a Monday meeting, the parent filling a long drive. The site is written for adults first, with kids' pages pitched for the grown-up reading them aloud.
Why another riddle site
Most riddle lists online are copies of copies. The same few hundred riddles go round, some with answers that do not quite fit, and a growing number are generated in bulk with nobody checking whether the answer is right. A riddle with two possible answers ruins the moment it is meant to create. So we set one rule before we published anything: every riddle is solved by a second solver who does not see the answer. If they land on a different answer that also fits, the riddle is rewritten and tested again, or cut. Trivia gets the same treatment, plus a cited source for every answer.
What you'll find here
- Riddles by audience, difficulty and theme, with the answer on the back of each card until you tap it.
- Would you rather and this or that questions with live votes. The split shows once 50 people have voted on a question, and the numbers are only ever real ones.
- Trivia with a quiz mode that keeps score and a source on every answer.
- Brain teasers, rebus puzzles and lateral thinking puzzles with the working shown after the reveal.
- Icebreakers and conversation starters for work, classrooms and new groups.
- Classic riddles quoted exactly from public-domain books of the 1800s and early 1900s, credited with the title and year.
- Printable card packs for most lists, eight cards to a page.
How the items are made
Most items are written for this site. Well-known traditional riddles appear only in our own wording and are marked as classics, and at least half of every page is original. Nothing is copied from other sites' lists. So far 4,184 items have been drafted and 3,215 made it through checking. The whole method is on our editorial standards page.
Getting something wrong
It will happen. If you find a riddle with a second answer that fits, a trivia answer that is out of date, or anything that should not be on a family site, email us and we will fix it or take it down.
