There is no catch to weigh up, so the fun comes from rapid-fire rounds and from the occasional pair that stops someone cold, like the past or the future. How to run a this or that round

Read ten pairs in a row without pausing, and have players answer by pointing left or right, or by holding up one or two fingers. Nobody explains anything until the round ends. Then pick the two pairs where the group split hardest and let each side argue for one minute.

In a group chat, post one pair at a time and ask for a single-word reply. Each pair on this page also takes a vote, and the overall split appears once 50 people have voted, which gives you something to compare against after your own round.

Tips for faster rounds

  • Set a two-second limit per answer, since a long pause turns a reflex game into a debate before the round is over.
  • Mix one strange pair, like skyscraper or treehouse, into every five ordinary ones to keep players from answering on autopilot.
  • Ask the person who answered last to read the next pair, which keeps everyone listening instead of waiting for their turn.
  • When two players match on every pick in a round, have them face off on the next ten pairs to find their first split.
